A Time for Self-Care

It’s been a while, huh?

A lot can happen in a few months.

If you’ve been following my blog, you know that I enrolled in a college program and was waiting to hear back about financial aid. Unfortunately, I wasn’t awarded any aid. Now I’m saving up to pay for the classes myself. A couple weeks later my mom was diagnosed with cancer—stage 4 lung cancer. She’s doing better than expected, thankfully. I have been going through a depressive episode since all of this unfolded.

I haven’t written much. I’ve spent a lot of days in bed. I either sleep all day or don’t sleep for 2-3 days straight, there’s no in-between. I haven’t read nearly as much as I’d like. I’m way behind on my goal of reading 74 books this year. I’m currently on my 5th book; I should be on my 9th or 10th book. If you’re looking for a laugh-out-loud story, I suggest reading The Bookish Life of Nina Hill. I’m really enjoying the story, that is, when I have the energy and interest to read. Anyway, I’m taking care of myself these days. It’s a time for self-care. I’m getting back to myself a little bit every day. I know I’ll bounce back soon and get back to writing and everything else that interests me.

In the midst of everything, my nephew, Casey, was born.

I hope the new year is treating you kindly and that you’re taking care of yourselves too! If all you’ve done today is survive, just know that’s okay! Hug your loved ones. Tell someone you love them today. Laugh a lot. Smile. Chase your dreams. Give a helping hand. Don’t take a single day for granted. Life is short; you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Raven says bye for now.
